Frequently Asked Questions

About the brand

What is a computer iteration?

a computer iteration is a generative fashion laboratory by Studio Contiero. We merge algorithmic art with Italian craftsmanship to create one-of-a-kind garments that embody individuality, emotion, and craft.

What is generative art?

Generative art is created using systems such as algorithms, computer code, or mathematical rules that produce visual compositions autonomously or semi-autonomously. At a computer iteration, each piece begins as a unique digital artwork born from code and intuition, where systems and randomness are used as creative tools to explore color, form, and emotion.

What does one-of-a-kind mean?

Every garment is unique. Once an artwork is chosen and woven, it will never exist again. When you receive your iteration, you own a unique piece of clothing that no one else will ever have.

Can I commission a custom iteration or collection?

Each iteration is born through a generative process and carries its own identity. However, bespoke collaborations may be possible for selected collectors, exhibitions, or special projects. If you’re interested in a custom iteration or collection, please reach out.

Craft & Production

What materials do you use?

Our garments are woven in Italy using a selection of premium natural and synthetic fibers, chosen for their durability, sustainability, and timeless character. We work with Italian mills that supply the world’s leading luxury houses, ensuring excellence from yarn to finish.

Where are your garments made?

Each piece is crafted in Italy by the same artisans who produce garments for renowned luxury houses worldwide. Their mastery ensures that every iteration meets the highest standards of quality and detail.

How can I choose my iteration and size?

Each iteration is personally selected for you by the artist, based on your preferences and individuality. Once your order is placed, we will guide you through a simple process to confirm your measurements and desired fit, ensuring your garment feels as personal as it looks.

Shipping & Returns

How long will my order take to ship?

Every iteration is custom-made after order. From weaving to finishing, production can take up to 3 months. You will be notified by email once your garment is ready to ship.

Where do you deliver?

We ship worldwide from Italy. Shipping costs, taxes, and import duties are not included and are paid by the customer.

Do you offer returns or exchanges?

Each iteration is one-of-a-kind, crafted specifically for its wearer. For this reason, returns are handled individually and considered on a case-by-case basis with care and attention. If you experience any issue with your order, please contact us. We’ll work together to find the best possible solution.

Experience

Where can I see your garments in person?

Our garments are occasionally presented at selected events, fairs, and exhibitions. Join our mailing list to be informed when and where new iterations appear.

How do I know my iteration is authentic?

Every garment is marked with a progressive identifier, a unique number tracing its place within our living archive. This identifier is permanently linked to its digital record, confirming authenticity and ensuring that each iteration remains singular, documented, and verifiable through time.

How is each iteration linked to its artwork?

Each iteration originates from a generative artwork created by the artist. That artwork, together with the iteration’s details and identifier, is tokenized on the blockchain as a permanent record of authorship. This digital record stands as a certificate of authenticity, connecting the garment’s craftsmanship to its algorithmic source.

Aftercare

How should I care for my iteration?

Each garment comes with dedicated care instructions to preserve its form, texture, and color over time. We recommend handling your iteration with care: wash gently at low temperatures or with cold water, avoiding excessive washing, storing it folded rather than hung, and entrusting delicate cleaning to professionals.

Are your garments sustainable?

Our approach to sustainability is rooted in longevity and intention. Each iteration is made to last: crafted from high-quality materials, produced in limited quantities, and designed to be cherished rather than replaced.

What is your replace-at-production-cost policy?

Every iteration is made to last, but we understand that garments live, age, and change with time. If your iteration is ever damaged or worn beyond repair, we can recreate or restore it at its original production cost. This policy reflects our commitment to longevity and respect for craft: preserving the life, memory, and identity of every iteration.
